Rainbow Chevron Roller Skate Dress

I am posting just in the nick of time to get this entered into July's Flip this Pattern contest from Frances Suzanne. Whew, that was close!...and a lot of work! But I am so very pleased with the result :)
Here is my rainbow chevron Roller Skate Dress!

I love this pattern in it's original form but, as I was planning how to flip it, it was screaming "twirl factor!" to me. What girl isn't a fan of the twirl factor? So I added some ;)
The sleeves were also flared out a bit to keep it consistent.

And, of course, there is the rainbow chevron. Oh, the rainbow chevron! I have been wanting to do this for so long and I felt like this pattern was a great canvas for it. The chevron is pieced...with quarter square triangles. I am a big fan of quilt work but have honestly done only minimal pieces myself. So these chevrons were a bit of work for me. But I'd say they were definitely worth the payoff.

I added a faux collar with piping. I love how this ties in with the chevron strip.

Then there is this pretty embroidered fabric I used for the main dress.

Check out the attitude!

I may pull together a tutorial for how I made this. So if you like it, stay and hang out for a while :)

Keilana thinks it's number one! ;)

Magic Gumdrop Bubble TUNIC!

I wasn't kidding when I said I already had the tunic version of the Magic Gumdrop Bubble Dress all ready to sew. See my first post about the Magic Gumdrop Bubble Dress here.
I had this tunic ready to wear the very next day...and, of course, she insisted on wearing it right away :)...

...And then again a few days later!

I almost think I like this tunic length even better than the dress length. It so bubbley!

And guess what?! Candy Castle Patterns now has a Facebook group where you can show off your creations, join in on sew-a-longs, and find out about giveaways and discounts! Seriously, there is no reason not to join!...unless you can't stand CUTENESS! You can find the group here ;)
The first sew-a-long starts July 18th for the Bubblegum Dress...the pattern that made me fall in love with Candy Castle Patterns.

The Magic Gumdrop Bubble Dress

Candy Castle Patterns has released another CUTE pattern; The Magic Gumdrop Bubble Dress & Tunic! Oh how I love thee Candy Castle Patterns. They are all simply adorable! Swoon!

I want to share something, as a mom and blogger, before I tell you about this lovely dress. My daughter was bitten all over by mosquitoes; two just above her right eye. Her eye swelled up like crazy! It looks better now, but I still had this thought that I should wait to take pictures of her in this dress. I thought, "There is no way I am going to be able to edit that out"  and the pictures wouldn't look as good. But then I realized the err of my thinking here. I can't tell her I still think she is beautiful but then not want to show it. This is nature and sometimes this stuff happens. So I decided to show her beautiful face (and dress!), swollen eye and imperfections, in all it's glory. After all I am raising a child here, not a fashion model!

Okay, now back the dress! :)

This sleeveless dress features a lettuce edge ruffle around the faux wrap neckline and a super cute bubble skirt.
It is made with knit fabrics. I used red cotton interlock for the trim and Magic Garden cotton interlock for the main dress. You may have seen me use this fabric recently on another project but the print was just perfect. It has fairies, and unicorns, mice, flowers, mushrooms, and hearts in the print. And though these things have nothing to do with the story of the magic gumdrop tree that inspired the name of this dress they are still pretty magical things ;)

I love this dress so much that I already have another one cut out, but in tunic length this time!
The pattern sews up quickly so expect to see the tunic length up on the blog soon. I think the tunic length looks a bit like a bubble peplum (swoon!).
(UPDATE: see the tunic length version I made here!)
You can check out Candy Castle Patterns' Facebook page to see other tester pictures, including a tunic length version. They are all so cute; what is not to love!
And what is even better is that the pattern is being offered at an introductory price of just $5!!! Use code GUMDROP at checkout ;) That's a deal! Don't miss out!

Thanks for visiting!

Peekaboo Pocket Pants by LittleKiwis Closet

I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester for Little Kiwis Closet debut pattern the Peekaboo Pocket Pants!

I would describe these pants as a modern harem style pant. They are a knit pant that is slim through the leg with a little bit of a drop crotch. Very cute, very modern!

These pants are super comfy and super quick to make! The pattern comes with a yoga style waistband, and the pockets are optional too. I love the pockets though! It's the perfect place for a little color pop. I made these pockets with some yummy, soft cotton velour.
Oh, and they fit nicely over fluffy cloth diaper bums!

Keilana insisted on video taping me while I took pictures of her. Here's to bribery! ;)

Check out all the great tester's versions of the pants on the Little Kiwis blog here and on the Facebook page here. This pattern does not disappoint!

And there's a coupon to celebrate! Use code YAYMYFIRSTPATTERN for $1.50 off the purchase price through today!

Congratulations Lydia on an awesome first pattern!
